High School PJAS Students Lead Holiday-Themed STEM Activity with Elementary Students

In celebration of “Oh Deer Day,” Miss Samantha Masco and members of the Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science led a STEM activity with Mrs. Lauren Zavislak’s elementary class. The lesson focused on states of matter where students learned about solids, liquids, and gasses. Students then completed a tasty experiment where they were able to recall what they learned through the building of a root beer float. The lesson also incorporated a social and emotional component. All students enjoyed participating in this hands on activity!

The program teaches youth and adults how to recognize warning signs and signals, especially within social media, from individuals who may be a threat to themselves or others and to “say something” BEFORE it is too late.
