Equity Grant Funding Response

Equity Grant Funding Response

To Carbondale Area School District Families:

After receiving the following notification from the Pennsylvania Department of Education regarding the Continuity of Education Equity Grant, Dr. Smedley has forwarded the accompanying letter on behalf of the district to the Honorable Pedro A. Rivera, Secretary of Education and Tom Wolf, Governor.  Please know that the District is pursuing all avenues to ensure that all students in the District have the opportunity to continue learning.  Please feel free to contact the Pennsylvania Department of Education and the Governor to voice your concerns.

“Thank you for submitting an application for the PDE Continuity of Education Equity Grant.  We regret to inform you that, due to limited funding, PDE was able to award only a limited number of grants. Carbondale Area SD was not selected for an award at this time.

We remain committed to supporting the Commonwealth’s most vulnerable students and will continue to seek other opportunities to provide assistance to local education agencies and schools. We will contact you as additional opportunities arise.

Again, thank you for your continued support of students. Questions or concerns should be sent to ra-ceeg@pa.gov to ensure a prompt reply.

Safe2Say Something is a youth violence prevention program run by the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General. The program teaches youth and adults how to recognize warning signs and signals, especially within social media, from individuals who may be a threat to themselves or others and to “say something” BEFORE it is too late.
