Evan Miller and Sarah Parry Participate in 54th Annual Skills USA Pennsylvania Leadership and Skills Conference

 

The 54th annual SkillsUSA Pennsylvania Leadership and Skills Conference was held April 6-8, 2022 in Hershey PA; over 1400 SkillsUSA members attended. This was the first in-person state competition since the pandemic began. Evan Miller and Sarah Parry are SkillsUSA members and attended the conference. Evan and Sarah are CTC of Lackawanna County students in the Graphic Communications and Health Occupations Technology programs, respectively. Evan competed in Hershey in the Graphic Communications competition, using the skills he has learned at the CTC, such as digital workflow, electronics prepress, digital press operations, technical knowledge, and professionalism. Sarah competed in the Health Knowledge Bowl, a team contest, which consisted of questions related to medical terminology, diagnosis, procedures, and legal/ethical standards. Both placed fourth against the best SkillsUSA competitors in the state!

Safe2Say

Safe2Say Something is a youth violence prevention program run by the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General. The program teaches youth and adults how to recognize warning signs and signals, especially within social media, from individuals who may be a threat to themselves or others and to “say something” BEFORE it is too late.
