WNEP sponsors “Feed a Friend” to help feed needy families for Thanksgiving. Carbondale Area Student Council adopted this venture and volunteered to organized and chair the event at our school. Officers and representatives put up posters around the school announcing the fundraiser. They then put up six barrels around the high school for fellow students to bring in their donations of food products for Feed a Friend. The Student Council team made sure to speak to students in their homerooms encouraging everyone to contribute to this great project. They enlisted the support of our principal, Mr. Joseph W. Farrell, who will make a phone call to the entire School Community asking for their support for this worthy endeavor. Student Council is receiving an overwhelming response from the Carbondale Area School Community. I asked Olivia Manarchuck, currently a senior at Carbondale Area how she felt about the response to the food drive and she said, “Especially at this time of year when we have so much to be thankful for, it’s nice to be able to give to others who are not as fortunate. This is what the holiday season is all about. With kindness as our goal, serving others and paying it forward make us all feel a little more in the holiday spirit.” Mrs. Joanna Grizzanti and Ms. Teressa Dombrosky are the Student Council Advisors.
