Senior Spotlight: Gianelly Prieto

Senior Spotlight: Gianelly Prieto

We are starting a new tradition here at Carbondale Area. Each week during the course of the school year, we will showcase one or two seniors and their academic and extracurricular achievements in a “Senior Spotlight” post. During the fall portion of this school year, we will highlight those students who previously participated in fall activities and sports.
Gianelly Prieto is the first senior to be recognized. Gianelly is the daughter of Jimmy and Magaly Prieto. She also has one sister, Leslie. Each fall since her sophomore year, Gianelly participated in the Carbondale Area Marching Band, where she played the bass drum. She currently plays the baritone.
Gianelly has also been a member of the Art Club for six years, the Yearbook/Photography Club for three years, the Spanish Club for two years, the Science and Technology Club for three years, and the Prom Committee. She is a hostess at the Breaker Brewing Outpost. Her hobbies and interests include art, music, and baking.
Gianelly’s academic achievements include Academic Honors, National Honor Society, and the High Honor Roll each year since seventh grade. Her favorite subject is Biology, which she plans to major in during college. After she completes her undergraduate coursework, Gianelly plans to attend medical school and pursue a career as a cardiovascular surgeon.
Gianelly’s favorite Carbondale Area memory is participating in the band at all the football games. Let us come together and congratulate Gianelly on her successes so far and wish her the best of luck with her future plans!
“I think sometimes you have to live in the moment and focus on right now.” -Gianelly Prieto, Carbondale Area Class of 2021
