Senior Spotlight: Alyvia Schiavone

Our next Senior Spotlight features multi-sport athlete Alyvia “Lyv” Schiavone. Alyvia is the daughter of Brandi and John Schiavone. She has two brothers: Darien, Carbondale Area Class of 2019, and John, a fifth grade student in the elementary school. Alyvia has excelled in both soccer and basketball in her time here at the high school.

Alyvia, who sported #17, joined the Carbondale Area Girls Varsity Soccer teams as an incoming freshman. Alyvia’s aggressiveness on the field, combined with her positive attitude and athletic ability, made her a key offensive player. Alyvia quickly claimed a starting position shuffling between the midfield and forward position. Alyvia always played the game aggressively, demonstrating her soccer talent and skills on the field whether she played center or on a wing. Alyvia’s exceptional soccer footwork was demonstrated game after game through countless assists. On average Alyvia contributed to 30% of the Shots on Goal per game and 14% of the team’s overall goals.

Alyvia, who wears #12 for the Chargerettes Basketball Team, is a four-year varsity member and three-year starter. She has 249 career points and averaged 5.7 points per game as a junior. Notably, she led the team with twenty 3-pointers during her junior campaign. She looks to have a strong senior season to close out a respectable career. She is back in action tonight with her Chargerette teammates at Holy Cross.

Alyvia is also involved in numerous academic clubs here at the high school. She is a state qualifier in Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA), a two-time regional qualifier, a two-year treasurer, and is a four-year member. She is a five-year member of Student Council and a four-year member of the Spanish Club. She also has been involved with Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD), Science and Technology Club, Prom Committee, Physics Club, and Library Club. She is also a member of this year’s Yearbook staff. Alyvia was also awarded 3rd place in the Graphic Design and Logo category at the Pennsylvania High School Computer Fair Regional Competition and received the 2017 Youth Bishop’s Award by the Diocese of Scranton. She has held employment at Rooster’s, McGee’s Tasty Freeze, and Alexander’s Family Restaurant.

Academically, Alyvia is ranked fourth in the class. She is Vice President of the National Honor Society and is a six-year member of Academic Honors and the High Honor Roll. Her favorite subject is Biology, and her favorite Carbondale Area memories include hiding Jobo Clause during the holiday season, dinosaur talks in Mr. Perri’s class, and getting to play basketball for seven years with her best friends. She plans to attend college in the fall and major in Biomedical Engineering. The Carbondale Area School District congratulates Alyvia on her accomplishments so far and wishes her the best of luck in her future endeavors. She has certainly made our school district proud. #CarbondaleAreaClassof2021
